Wisconsin consumers can claim reward in LCD lawsuit

Many consumers may be using the discounts and promotions during this holiday season as a way to purchase a new LCD flat screen TV, computer monitor or laptop. But a few years ago, these items may have been just as popular but at a higher price tag.
The 2010 lawsuit against electronics manufacturers Hitachi, Samsung, Sharp, LG and several others reached a settlement that allows consumers who purchased a certain product from these companies within the years of 1996 and 2006 to claim that they were victims of the price-fixing scandal allegedly created by these companies.
The corporations were accused of increasing prices and preventing competition against this in-demand technology. Wisconsin was one of several states that joined this antitrust lawsuit against the manufacturers.
According to the Associated Press, Wisconsin's Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen stated that those who bought a TV, monitor or laptop with an LCD flat screen in the specified time period have until December 6 to file their claim. Consumers can collect anything from $25 to upwards of $100 by answering a few questions about what they bought. No receipts are required.
While the claims process may not be the most complicated, the legal battles that led to the manufacturer's settlement may have been a long ordeal.
With so many major corporations at hand in such a large lawsuit, attorneys in the case needed to rely on many different deposition transcripts to effectively defend their clients. For lawyers in the Midwest, partnering with Wisconsin court reporters can be an excellent way to obtain accurate deposition transcripts. In addition, these professionals can offer video deposition services, which is another excellent way to create a comprehensive recap of what may have been said in a deposition.
